Senior Citizen Found Unconscious In Vehicle On Route 8 In Shelton Dies: State Police
State police said an elderly person found unconscious in a vehicle on Route 8 in Shelton over the weekend was later pronounced dead.
SHELTON, CT — A senior citizen found unconscious in a vehicle Saturday morning on Route 8 in Shelton was later pronounced dead, according to state police.
In an email to Patch, state police confirmed Troop I officers were called to the area of Exit 9 on Route 8 southbound around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a single-vehicle accident on the right shoulder of the highway.
Troopers determined the vehicle did not strike anything and came to rest just prior to impact with the rock face along the shoulder, according to state police.

An elderly driver was found unconscious inside the vehicle and was not breathing, state police said.
Although life-saving measures were taken, the driver was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to state police.

State police did not identify the elderly driver but noted their next of kin had been notified and "no criminal aspect" was involved.
