Michael Andrew Mando, 22, of Falmouth Drive, Shelton, is charged with sixth-degree larceny, criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.
Police said Mando tried to cash a stolen check at People's Bank on Bridgeport Avenue and had two more stolen checks in his backpack.
Mando's bond was set at $5,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
