Shelton And Derby High Schools End Thanksgiving Day Game
The rivalry football game had not been played the past two seasons, one of which was due to the coronavirus pandemic.
SHELTON & DERBY, CT — Shelton and Derby high schools will no longer play a Thanksgiving Day football game for the foreseeable future, according to the two schools, ending a rivalry game that had been played between the two schools for more than 100 years.
The game had not been played for the past two seasons, due to the coronavirus pandemic and a dwindling number of players on the Derby team, reported the Connecticut Post.
Officials said the game could return in the future as circumstances change.

In Derby's place, Shelton will now face Middletown-based Xavier on Thanksgiving in 2022.
