St. Margaret Mary's Turns 50

In a year that saw thousands of dollars' worth of vandalism to the church, St. Margaret Mary's will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the newly-installed Bishop Frank Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

The mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.

Parishioners immediately pitched in with repairs after the vandalism, which remains unsolved. Oil was poured all over the inside of the church and statues were smashed, including the statue of St. Margaret Mary that had been imported from Italy.

But the church was quickly rededicated and mass was held soon after the vandalism was discovered.
