- Woo-hoo! A break from the rain! The National Weather Service predicts that today will be mostly sunny, with high temperatures in the mid 60s! Sounds like a great day to visit the dog park or go for a run outside. At night, mostly clear skies with lows in the upper 30s. Spring is finally in the air.
- The Derby-Shelton Rotary club is gearing up for their annual auction. They raise money for their scholarship endowment, and last year gave out eight college scholarships to some very bright and deserving students. The event, to be held on May 1, will include live and silent auctions, good food, and a fantastic band. See the featured flyer for more details!
- Children's sign language classes at are now open for registration.Certified teacher Michelle Novak will teach two different age groups starting April 27. Five and six-year-olds will meet for six sessions held on Wednesdays from 4 - 4:45 p.m. and seven, eight and nine-year-olds will meet for eight sessions held Wednesdays from 5 - 5:45 p.m. Children will leanr finger spelling, numbers, some conversational sentences and other basic signs. - Lauren Ostrofsky from Huntington and other Pace University students can now add "film competition winner" to their resumes. Ostrofsky's documentary won "Best in Category" for a documentary in the 2010 Indie Short Film Competition. Ostrofsky, majoring in Communications at Pace University, helped write, direct, film, and produce the half-hour documentary titled: "The Life of an American Ambassador: The Netherlands" that follows the life of Fay Hartog-Levin, the American Ambassador to Holland.
- Happy Birthday to Shelton natives Emily Callahan and Sean Sullivan, who both turn 23 today! These two share a birthday with actors Sarah Michelle Gellar, Adrien Brody, Abigail Breslin, and with baseball great Pete Rose.
