  • Goodbye, summer. I know I've said it before, but it just didn't seem real until very recently: Fall weather has finally crept in. According to the National Weather Service, today we can expect sunny skies with a high near 59 degrees. A little bit blustery with northwest winds reaching up to gusts of 17 mph. At night, slight chance of showers after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
  • is holding their "Young Professionals Night" this coming Thursday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at Downtown Danny O's Bar and Grill. This isa networking event for professionals ages 25-40 that work or live in the Valley. Join community leaders and fellow young professionals for a night of networking and cocktails. Learn about ways to involve you or your company and to become more visible. Beer, wine and appetizers included with your $30 entrance fee. Please dress business casual.   • Inspiring news from Sheltonites! On Sunday, Oct. 23, 's FCCLA club (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) headed to Lighthouse Point in New Haven to the making Strides for Cancer event. The club walked 3 miles for the cause and raised over $400 with the help of family and the teachers at Shelton High School. FCCLA Club is lead by President Keirsten McDonald and Vice President Paula Perron. Members include: Amanda Hasiotis, Mackenzie Kelly, Jason Wood, Alex McPadden, Cynthia Hernandez, Kate Iorfino, Tara McDonald, Jenn Newman, Janine Kovac and Kristen Carpenter.
  • According to the city's website, the fall leaf collection schedule is as follows: Monday - Friday, October 24 - December 9: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Saturday, October 29. So if you've been working hard to rake those leaves off your yard but don't know what to do with them - have no fear, the city is here!
