  • During the day, the weather will be pretty much like it has been since the start of the week. The National Weather Service reports mostly sunny skies, with a high near 45 degrees. Overnight though, there is a chance of light rain, mainly between midnight and 3 a.m., while it will be mostly cloudy with a low around 33. This wet weather and misting is predicted continue at various times throughout the rest of the week.
  • Today is National I Am in Control Day -- a positive, reinforcing celebration! There are a few events happening in and around Shelton today to help you grab the reins on life. Teens can take academic responsibility by participating in an , designed to offer help in improving their performance on the May 7 SAT exam. For a feeling of medical well-being, visit Griffin Hospital in Derby for , a support group for cancer survivors and those with a current diagnosis. And, the on Trap Falls Rd. is a service that helps people recover from various hardships, such as drug addiction, severe poverty, HIV, and other health and life issues.
  • There are three municipal meetings at today: A special meeting of the Water Pollution Control Authority at 5 p.m. in room 305 where flow metering will be discussed, a Drug & Alcohol information/discussion session at 5:30 in room 104, and a public hearing with the Community Development Office from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in room 104. This Office is responsible for identifying and securing funds for the provision of housing and community facilities. It oversees the Shelton’s Housing Rehabilitation Program, the Anti-Blight Program, the Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program, and funding for the Local Capitol Improvement Program. Attend the public hearing if you want you voice to be heard...another way of being in control today!
  • Summer is fast approaching us and that means it is almost time for Summer Camp! Register your daughter for Girl Scout Summer Camp and she will have a summer to remember! Register and pay in full by this coming Friday, April 1, and you can save $15 on day camp and save $30 on resident camp. Girl Scout Camp is for all girls who want an amazing camp adventure. Campers will enjoy age appropriate activities, arts & crafts, sports, and much more in a safe, nurturing environment. The fresh-air experience is educational as well as fun with nine day camps and three resident camps across the state. Engaging camp programs help girls discover their individual strengths, connect with new friends, and learn through first-hand experiences.   • Shelton native and junior at Tufts University Michael Yi has made the Dean's List for the Fall 2010 semester. This academic honor requires a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater. Congratulations on your success, Michael, and keep up the good work!
