Hey, it's hump day! That means we're closer to Friday than we are to Monday. Rejoice!

- As usual, we start with the predicted forecast for the day. The National Weather Service reports increasing clouds, with a high near 38 degrees during the day. At night, slight chance of rain before 10 p.m., then a chance of rain, snow and sleet between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., then rain likely after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Rejoice! Also, check in tomorrow morning for SheltonPatch's weather expert Sean Downey for an in-depth look at what we can expect for the rest of the week!
- A lot of you faithful readers have expressed that you love the "National Day" addition to 5 Things, so I'm going to try to include it as much as possible, as long as it has some kind of Shelton connection. Without further ado, today is National Panic Day. Life has its moments of anxiety and stress, but I'd advise to celebrate by NOT panicking, but instead easing those anxieties. A great way to do so is a healthy exercise session. Visit or to see what they have to offer, including an array of cardio machines, personal training sessions, and fun classes like Zumba.
- In keeping with the theme of not panicking on Panic Day, the holds "," a low impact water aerobics class that allows attendees to have fun and get in a good workout that is low impact. Class starts at 8:45 a.m. While you're at the community center, check out their schedules for yoga, another good anti-panic activity.

- Happy Birthday to Shelton native Melissa Sansone, who turns 23 years old today! Melissa shares a birthday with rap star Bow Wow, also turning 23, and Amerigo Vespucci, who would be 556 years old! Vespucci was an Italian explorer, navigator and cartographer. According to wikipedia, the Americas are generally believed to have derived their name from the feminized Latin version of his first name.
