Worker Taken To Hospital After Chemical Spill At Shelton Facility: FD

Fire officials said a worker was taken to a hospital after being exposed to chemicals during a spill at a Shelton manufacturer.

SHELTON, CT — A worker was taken to a hospital after being exposed to chemicals during a spill at a Shelton manufacturer over the weekend, according to fire officials.

In an email to Patch, Deputy Fire Chief Paul Wilson said crews were called to Talalay Global on River Road around 9:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a chemical spill with a worker exposed.

When crews arrived, they were met by employees who said a worker became exposed to natural rubber latex compound solution while trying to clean a machine at the facility, Wilson said.

Other employees helped the worker use an emergency shower and eye wash station to remove the solution. The worker was then taken to a hospital for evaluation, Wilson said.

The spill was contained to the area of the machine and deemed non-hazardous. It will be mitigated by the facility, Wilson said.
