Construction Begins On Hop Brook Bridge
The state Department of Transportation is replacing and rehabilitating parts of the bridge, a project expected to take most of this year.

SIMSBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation has begun rehabilitating the bridge on Route 10 over Hop Brook — a project officials expect will take most of this year to complete.
Construction on the bridge, which is located on Route 10 between West Street and Woodland Street, began on Tuesday, town officials said. They predicted that work will continue through Nov. 30.
"The project scope involves superstructure replacement, substructure rehabilitation and installation of scour countermeasures for scour mitigation near the abutment," officials wrote in an announcement.

And traffic will be somewhat impacted by the project: Officials will maintain one lane in each direction with alternating traffic "during allowable times" between 9 a.m. and 3 .m. Monday through Friday.
Officials also said the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail will be maintained with a temporary pedestrian bridge downstream of the bridge.
