SIMSBURY, CT — Democrats in Connecticut's 8th state senate district have endorsed Paul Honig as their candidate in the 2022 election, they announced this week.

Honig, a member of the Harwinton Board of Selectmen, worked in fixed income finance for 22 years after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania.

Currently, he serves as an executive board member at his synagogue in Simsbury and as treasurer of Region 10 Make A Mark, Inc., a nonprofit that provides grants to students, teachers and administrators.

Honig received the Democratic endorsement on Tuesday during the 8th state senate district convention at Bad Dog Brewing Company in Torrington.

"I love it here in Connecticut. And, I want Connecticut to be a place where my friends and neighbors can live comfortably, safely, and prosper," Honig said after he was endorsed. "Where my sons and their friends can find good jobs and can build lives here and thrive. Where our parents can afford to retire and find the services they need as they age in place."

In March, Honig's campaign announced that he raised enough money to qualify for public financing through Connecticut's Citizens Election Program, which is designed to help candidates run for office without relying on special interest money.
