Eighty Simsbury Homeowners Sign up to Install Solar Energy

The 80 Simsbury homes signed up for solar energy arrays will keep 14,050 tons of carbon from the atmosphere, says Solarize Connecticut.

From the Solarize Simsbury page on Facebook:

The program ended Sept. 23, with 80 homes signing contracts for residential solar, with a total production of 644 kW.

• These 80 solar arrays, over their life, will reduce 14,050 tons of carbon, which is equivalent to planting 327,334 trees, or driving 28,101,818 less miles that will save 1,433,193 gallons of gasoline.

• The 644 kW of solar arrays will produce approximately 689,275 kWh per year.

• The average home in Connecticut uses 8,400 kWh, therefore this solar will effectively remove 82 “average” homes from the electrical grid.

• A number of the arrays in Simsbury are larger than average.
