SIMSBURY, CT — When you say Cracker Barrel, the first thing that comes to mind is the national chain of restaurants and country stores which opened its first Connecticut location in the 1990s. Long before that, however, the unrelated Cracker Barrel Pub was serving up upscale bar food and a large selection of tap beer in the Tariffville section of Simsbury, and continues to do so today.

Founded in 1983, the pub may be located on Main Street, but that doesn't make it easy to find. It is just off Route 189, to which Main runs parallel, across from the Tariffville Green in the Historic District.

Along with affordable food and drinks, the pub provides friendly, hometown service, an outdoor patio, and a variety of entertainment options, including televisions featuring sports and weekly bingo and trivia.
