Homeowners: The Deadline is Tuesday to Submit Contract for 'Solarize Simsbury' Discount for Your Home

So far, 60 Simsbury homeowners have submitted contracts that provide discounts for installing solar power in their homes.

An announcement from Simsbury town government:

If you are a homeowner holding onto your solar proposal, keep in mind you have until Sept. 23 [Tuesday] to submit your contract for a solar installation with the Solarize Simsbury program, a town and state supported initiative for discounted solar energy.

So far, about 60 Simsbury homeowners have signed contracts for solar panels.

Solarize Connecticut is a program offered by the Connecticut Clean Energy Financing and Investment Authority (CEFIA) in partnership with SmartPower to increase residential solar installations.

The town interviewed several companies and selected C-TEC Solar of Simsbury as the installer that best fits residents.

Here’s what Solarize Simsbury includes:

  • DISCOUNT PRICE: A set, discounted price – generally 20 percent below market rate.
  • FINANCING: There are a variety of flexible financing options offered by Energize Connecticut that make installing solar panels more affordable, including leasing and loan options that require no upfront investment by the homeowner. All financing options allow homeowners to immediately lower their monthly electric bills.
  • END DATE: The Solarize program has an end date of Sept. 23, 2014. All contracts must be signed by that date in order to qualify for the discounted cost.
