Learn To Fly At The Simsbury Airport Next Month
On May 21, a local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host free flying lessons for adults at the Simsbury Airport.
SIMSBURY, CT — Anyone who's ever wondered what it's like to fly a plane now has their chance to find out.
On May 21, a local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association is hosting "Flying Start," a program designed to teach adults how to fly, at the Simsbury Airport.
Officials described the event as "a free informational event" and said the first 20 people to register (ages 18+) can take a free introductory flight as well.

Introductory flights last around an hour, and each participant will be paired with a pilot who is certified with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada.
"You will experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about," officials said on the event website. "Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives. You will, too!"

The program will take place at the Simsbury Airport clubhouse on Wolcott Road, and its schedule is:
- 9:30-10 a.m.: Meet and greet with coffee and donuts
- 10-11:30 a.m.: EAA Presentation, EAA video, conversation with a local Certified Flight instructor, and Q&A
- 11:30 a.m.-noon: Finish Q&A, assign participants with pilots
- Noon-? Introductory flights
- Noon-? Simple lunch (hot dogs, burgers)
Registration is required, and can be done here.
Officials said a second event will be held in the future, and a similar program for children ages 7-17 will take place at the Simsbury Airport on June 11.
