Learn To Take Care Of The Planet At Huge Simsbury Event Saturday
The annual Simsbury Sustainability Fair will take place Saturday, May 3, with folks from surrounding towns participating and asked to come.
SIMSBURY, CT — The local library this Saturday will become ground zero for sustainability as it will be transformed by the Simsbury Sustainability Fair.
The free event will take place throughout the library, which is located at 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3.
It is being hosted by the Simsbury Sustainability Committee, with participation from countless organizations and groups, all promoting sustainability and good environmental practices.

But the event is much more, and folks and organizations from neighboring towns are encouraged to attend as well.
For example, the Avon Clean Energy Commission is participating by hosting a tent outside the library for children's seed planting activities.

Generally speaking, the fair is a way to enjoy a free, fun, and educational day with the family.
For the youngsters, the program will feature:
• Reptiles and snakes from Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton from 10:15 to 11 am)
• Bingo for kids of all ages (10 to 11 a.m.)
• Making art from trash with Ms. Stephanie for kids of all ages (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
• Jewelry-making for teens (1 to 2 p.m.).
• Garden marker painting (all day)
For adults, the Simsbury Sustainability Fair will feature businesses and information booths from clean energy and sustainable living contractors.
Information on the following items will be available as well: EV cars, solar panels, and battery storage, heat pumps, home Insulation, and designing an energy-efficient home.
In addition, the fair will be a centerpiece of environmental education and advocacy.
For example, guests will be able to get free seeds and buy flowers and plants.
They will also learn how to keep the Farmington River Clean and protect our forests and open spaces, among other environmental practices.
