Make Simsbury's Chess Club Your Next Move For Your Kids

The Simsbury Public Library's Chess Club starts Wednesday, Jan. 29, for young chess players in grades 2-6.

SIMSBURY, CT — If you're searching for Bobby Fischer, you might find the next incarnation of the legendary chess master at the Simsbury Public Library.

That is because the library's popular "Chess Club" is back in action for young chess players in grades 2-6.

It will take place on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. at the library, which is located at 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.

The free program does require participants to sign up online, with sign-ups being accepted right up until the start of the club meetings.

The program is for students in grades 2-6 interested in learning to play chess or improving their chess game.

"Students should know how the chess pieces move before their first visit," wrote the library in an announcement. "Meetings focus on learning chess strategy, chess sportsmanship, and organizing games."
