Memorial Day In Simsbury: Not One, But Two Parades Slated
Memorial Day is a solemn mix of remembering U.S. soldiers killed in the line of duty and enjoying the unofficial start of the summer season.
SIMSBURY, CT — The unofficial start of summer kicks off in Simsbury this weekend with a mix of seasonal fun and solemn remembrances of Memorial Day Weekend's true meaning.
All town offices and schools are closed for the day on Monday, May 26, with Simsbury going all out, hosting two Memorial Day Parades that day.
It starts at 9 a.m. in the Village of Tariffville in Simsbury, where marchers will step off at the intersection of Winthrop Street and Main Street.
Once that parade concludes, there is a morning break, and a second parade starts in Simsbury.
That event steps off at 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hopmeadow Street and Owens Brook Boulevard.
The day's events are sponsored and hosted by the Village of Tariffville, Town of Simsbury, , American Legion Post 84, and VFW Post 1926.
