The fledgling chain is planning nine other such clubs throughout Connecticut, the first one being in Simsbury.

SIMSBURY, CT — The necessary municipal approvals have been granted, the work is nearly complete, and, now, it is nearly time to play the fastest-growing paddle/ball sport in the U.S.

Dill Dinkers, a leader in dedicated indoor pickleball clubs, is opening its newest location in Simsbury on Friday, Sept. 6, the company announced Thursday, a change from the original opening date, which was slated to be Sunday.

Pickleball is a popular racquet sport similar to tennis and is played on a smaller court that looks like a tennis court.

It utilizes a plastic ball and paddles instead of racquets and tennis balls.

Dill Dinkers will have seven indoor courts with fences, an event space, a ball machine, a pro shop, and a state-of-the-art reservation system.

The Pickleball Brothers LLC, which includes Simsbury native Max Johnson, Dr. Wayne Johnson, Scott Johnson, and Zach Larichiuta, is behind the development of the Simsbury club.
