Simsbury Pedestrian Badly Hurt In Accident Thursday: Police: UPDATE

The vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision had shut down a busy portion of Simsbury roadway.

SIMSBURY, CT — The serious accident that shut down a major roadway in Simsbury Thursday morning badly injured a pedestrian, with local police still investigating.

According to the Simsbury Police Department Thursday afternoon, at about 9:47 a.m., the SPD was called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

The accident, police said, happened at the intersection of Hopmeadow Street (Route 10) and Iron Horse and Owens Brook boulevards.

When officers arrived, police said, the located a pedestrian lying in the northbound lane of Hopmeadow Street.

That pedestrian was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with serious injuries.

According to police, the operator of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian remained on scene and cooperated with police.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is assisting the SPD in the accident probe.
