Simsbury Deputy First Selectman Steps Down

Nancy Haase's resignation was effective on Friday.

Simsbury Deputy First Selectman Nancy Haase recently announced her resignation, reports the Hartford Courant.

She has said she was presented with “additional professional opportunities” that call for a greater level of commitment.

Her term was set to expire Dec. 7 and she is not seeking re-election. The Republican town committee will nominate a replacement, which the selectmen must then approve. The committee would seek to fill the vacancy as soon as possible.

Haase has requested to be appointed to the economic development task force, for which she now serves as liaison to the board of selectmen.
