Simsbury Firefighters Rush To Massive Torrington Fire: SVFC
Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co. firefighters were among the many mutual aid responders to Sunday's factory fire there.

SIMSBURY, CT — Local firefighters were dispatched Sunday to a gigantic mill fire in Torrington, one of several out-of-town fire departments called for mutual aid.
According to WFSB Channel 3, the fire was reported at 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the former Stone Container Co. in Torrington.
Images taken of the fire showed the massive factory building being fully engulfed.

According to the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co., Simsbury's Tower 12 truck — part of regional Task Force 54 — was called to the scene at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
The SVFC assisted in the fight against what was a three-alarm blaze.

Crews provided city coverage as well as on-scene operations throughout the morning hours, according to Simsbury firefighters.
"Thanks to our initial responding crew and our relief crew that took over shortly after 8 a.m., T-12 cleared the scene and was back in quarters before (noon)," wrote the SVFC.
