Simsbury Golf Classic For Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation On June 5

From the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation: The 23rd Annual Golf Classic is Monday, June 5, 2017 at Tower Ridge Country Club in Simsbury to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, a national volunteer-driven nonprofit organization whose mission is to find cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. Today, more than 1.6 million Americans are afflicted with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, both chronic and often debilitating digestive diseases, collectively known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), for which there is yet no cure.

“I found the local chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and attended one of their meetings. I had never seen such a passionate group of people that have dedicated themselves to raising awareness and money for research”, says Susan Johnson, patient, event committee member and Connecticut Chapter Board Member, who has been involved with the local Chapter for 25 years. “I am proud to work with this Foundation that is dedicated to improving the quality of life of patients.”

Johnson has lived with Crohn’s disease for 26 years and her mother was diagnosed 18 years prior to that. “I had seen the struggles my mom had at the time when the therapies for IBD were nowhere near what they are today. I knew I had to become involved somehow to help work towards finding a cure.”

The 23rd Annual Golf Classic will feature lunch, a scramble format tournament start with golf cart, dinner, raffle, silent auction and awards presentation. Registration is $175 per person and can be purchased here. Special thanks to the event sponsors, supporters, and committee members.
