Simsbury Golf Course Among Best In Nation For Fall: Report
The town-owned course is among the top 10 golf courses to play when the calendar turns to autumn, according to a major golf magazine.
SIMSBURY, CT — Local recreation officials Tuesday were downright jubilant this week after learning the town-owned golf course is among the 10 best courses in the country this time of year.
According to the national golf publication Links Magazine, the Simsbury Farms Golf Course at 100 Old Farms Road, West Simsbury, is the seventh-best course to play in the country when taking in fall foliage.
Given this is October, town leaders Wednesday were quite enthusiastic, especially in the Simsbury Culture, Parks & Recreation Department.

They urged folks to come out and see why Simsbury Farms made the list before the foliage goes away and Old Man Winter shows up.
According to Links, the geography and wooded areas around the site make for perfect leaf peeping while trying to get that tiny little ball in a tiny little hole.

The foliage, when it's at its peak, may, even, temper any tantrums that could arise should a slice or two turn a round on the links awry.
The magazine credited the course's designer, Geoffrey Cornish, with the distinction.
"Players have Geoffrey Cornish (the Johnny Appleseed of affordable local golf courses) to thank for the outstanding design at Simsbury Farms, located just west of Hartford in the Farmington Valley," wrote Links.
"But you have Mother Nature to thank for the views you’ll enjoy of the area’s tree-covered hills and glacial drumlins as they put on their annual color blitz.
