Storm Slams Simsbury Friday Afternoon
The Town of Simsbury said several roads are closed due to downed trees, branches and power lines.
SIMSBURY, CT — A fast-moving Friday afternoon thunderstorm has slammed Simsbury, with public works officials urging motorists to avoid many parts of town.
"The severe weather that just moved through has resulted in some downed trees in various parts of town," wrote the Simsbury Department of Public Works.
"If you come across trees entangled in power lines or downed power lines, do not touch them. Assume they are live and report them to the police department and/or Eversource. Downed trees and limbs can be reported to the Police Department at 860-658-3100."

Local officials said many roads in town are now closed.
"At this time, we are aware of road closures on the following streets. This list is subject to change and there will likely be more roads affected. It will take some time to clear the debris. Please avoid these areas if you can," wrote the Simsbury DPW.
