Survey Says This State Park Is Best Picnic Spot In CT

A Florida car dealership surveyed more than 3,000 families nationally, with this longtime park topping Connecticut's best 'Grill Getaways.'

SIMSBURY, CT — Somehow, a survey from a Florida car dealership has resulted in a Simsbury state park topping a list of best places to grill food.

According to a survey conducted by the auto seller, Stratton Brook State Park (Simsbury) was voted Connecticut's "Top BBQ Spot" for Memorial Day.

Ahead of Memorial Day weekend, Gunther Volvo Cars Delray Beach surveyed 3,012 families to uncover the best hidden gem BBQ spots across the state, doing so for all states.

When the numbers were crunched, Simsbury's state park was tops, with Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth coming in second.

"On Memorial Day, there is something timeless about packing up the car and heading out in search of the perfect BBQ spot," wrote Gunther Volvo.

Located at 149 Farms Village Road, Simsbury, features "swimming, picnicking, fishing, cycling, interpretive programs, and more in a beautifully wooded setting with ADA accessibility," according to CTParks.com, the state's official parks website.
