The Simsbury Board of Finance is hosting a continuation of a special budget public hearing tonight (April 22) on town/school spending.

SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Board of Finance is hosting a public hearing on Tuesday, April 22, at 5:45 p.m. on proposed town/school spending plans for 2025-26.
It will take place at Simsbury Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.
Copies of proposed budget estimates for the ensuing fiscal year are available for general distribution in the office of the Simsbury Town Clerk and posted on the town website at www.simsbury-ct.gov/budget.

The budget documents include revenue sources and the tax impacts on taxpayers.
The latest proposed town/school budget for next fiscal year is $128,451,96, $5,711,569 larger or 4.65 percent bigger than current spending.

If approved as is, the latest budget proposal would increase the town's tax rate from 33.31 to 34.15 mills.
For a home assessed at $300,000, the 0.84-mill increase means an extra $252 in taxes this year compared to last year's tax bills.
Residents can comment on the budget and the tax impact at the hearing.
The hearing is a chance to comment on the town's spending as the finance board crafts a spending plan that will be decided at the polls next month.
Later Tuesday night, the Simsbury Board of Selectmen is expected to finalize the budget referendum timeline in a special meeting tentatively slated for when the finance board meeting ends.
