Other items cited by Mackstutis are the creation of a new, bipartisan Simsbury Housing Policy Advisory Commission, infrastructure improvements, improvements in education/recreation, and meeting budgetary and tax goals.
"These accomplishments reflect the collaborative spirit and dedication of our current leadership team," she said.
In addition, Mackstutis confirmed that Democrat Steven Antonio, who is deputy first selectman, along with Democratic selectmen Curtis Looney and Diana Yeisley, are also planning to run for a second term.
That, she said Monday, the familiar faces represent "a strong, experienced, and consistent team ready to continue serving with integrity and focus."
Mackstutis also said she's hopeful the GOP selectmen run as well.
"It’s been over 20 years since the same six individuals from both parties have served together for
consecutive terms," Mackstutis said.
" I would love for that to be part of our legacy. We have more work to accomplish together, such as charter revision, capital planning, updating town policies, and ensuring that our next budget keeps costs and taxes in check.
"Experience and stability will be vital as we focus on the community amidst the changing landscape of the state and nation.
"I remain committed to doing what’s best for everyone who calls Simsbury home. I love our
town. I’m confident that our returning slate of Democrats will earn the formal endorsement at
the July caucus."
