Watch: Simsbury Police Help Bird Escape Home
Two Simsbury police officers responded to a slightly different "home intruder" last week.

SIMSBURY, CT — When Simsbury police Officers Gronski and Newton responded to a report of a home intruder, they likely weren't expecting that intruder to be a bird.
But that's exactly what happened on Feb. 4, according to the Simsbury Police Department.
A video posted to the department's Facebook page shows the officers shining a flashlight on a large bird while it flies around a residence.

Then, a second video shows an officer holding a broom out a door with the bird perched on it, and when the officer drops the broom, the bird flies off into the night.
"Sometimes officers are called to the scene of a burglary or person trespassing," officers wrote on Facebook. "On 2/4/22, Simsbury Police Officers Gronski and Newton responded to a little different type of unwelcome intruder and helped escort the suspect back outside."
