Attempted Car Break-Ins Reported In Southbury: Police
Police responded following reports of attempted car break-ins on two local streets.
SOUTHBURY, CT — Police responded following reports of attempted car break-ins in the area of Beecher Drive and Lumm Lot Road. The suspects, who were wearing hoodies, were attempting to enter vehicles overnight Thursday into Friday.
Police said they will be increasing patrols.
In most cases, the thieves enter the cars through unlocked doors and steal valuable items.

"This is a reminder to please remember to lock your vehicles!" Southbury police wrote on Facebook. "Make it a point to lock the vehicle doors, just as you would your residence, when you exit them."
Police said that it’s also a good idea to not leave anything of value in your car unattended.

They also said to turn on outside lights at night if you can to illuminate driveways and entry points. Make sure any sensor lights are functioning properly.
"Finally, let’s all watch out for one another," police wrote. "If you see something, say something. We encourage everyone to report anything suspicious."
When making a report, police said to provide as much detail as you can to the dispatcher and the responding officer.
"Don’t take action into your own hands. Call us."
