Man Charged In Southbury Residential Burglary: Police

A man was arrested on allegations that he burglarized a Southbury home in August, according to police.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A man has been charged in connection with a Southbury residential burglary following a lengthy investigation, according to police. Jaquel Newsome was charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny after he turned himself in to police Oct. 30.

Police responded to an alarm call Aug. 20. Officers arrived and found that someone had entered an Old Woodbury Road home through a second-story window.

The homeowner found that a safe containing sentimental jewelry and personal documents had been stolen.

Police collected evidence, submitted DNA samples to the Connecticut State Forensic Lab, and identified a suspect.

Newsome was released after posting $100,000 bond and is due in court Nov. 13.
