SOUTHBURY, CT — Without community leaders, Southbury wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

How do you know this community leader?

I am a volunteer in the non-profit he started called Sustainable Southbury.

What does this community leader do?

Chuck is the leader to guiding the town of Southbury in becoming more sustainable and environmentally responsible. Sustainable Southbury is the non-profit and his work on grant writing, leadership and sustainable knowledge we are able to sponsor a year of Food Scrap Recycling for Southbury residents. He is also the leader of an Energy and Green Expo held each year in Southbury. He works closely with town officials in energy needs/concerns, as well as does tons of research to get sustainable changes made.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Chuck Litty has worked tirelessly in promoting sustainable practices and guiding town officials to create change.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Chuck Litty has never backed away from a challenge, even after a major bicycling accident. He is diplomatic, intelligent and kind and is a good leader in a quiet way.
