📰 News we're reading

• Where the riskiest highway off-ramps in Connecticut are located, based on DOT study (nhregister.com) — State transportation data show that I‑84’s Exit 16 in Southbury is tied for the highest risk score among Connecticut highway off‑ramps, largely due to confusing design, low lighting, and nearby alcohol service. Officials are using this ranking system to prioritize wrong‑way detection cameras and other safety upgrades at Exit 16 and similarly risky ramps statewide, which could directly affect how safely Southbury drivers enter and exit the highway.

• James Edward Kowalski (primepublishers.com) — Southbury is mourning lifelong resident James Edward Kowalski, 83, a devoted family man, veteran, and Sacred Heart Church member who passed away December 12 after a long battle with cancer. Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 19, and a funeral with full military honors will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, both at Midd‑South Catholic (Sacred Heart) Church on Main Street South.
