Region 15 Kindergarten Registration Is Now Open (patch.com) — Families in Southbury with children entering kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year can now begin Region 15’s registration process online and are encouraged to complete the initial form soon. Parents and guardians are also invited to school-based information sessions on April 23 to learn more about the kindergarten program and next steps.

The announcement showcases a broad cross-section of Southbury scholars excelling in their studies at the state’s flagship university.

Southbury Winners Of The 2025 Fire Prevention Poster Recognition Program (patch.com) — Two Pomperaug Elementary School students from Southbury have been honored as local winners in the 2025 Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Recognition Program, with their artwork advancing to county-level judging. Southbury Fire Marshal Derrek Guertin presented them with gift cards and a challenge coin, highlighting the town’s role in promoting everyday fire safety among children.

Trooper resigns following crash coverup, state police say (wfsb.com) — State police say a Connecticut trooper resigned after allegedly trying to hide that she crashed her cruiser on I-84 in Southbury last October, later admitting distraction by her in-car computer. She faces several charges, including evading responsibility and filing a false report, after turning herself in on a warrant and being released on a $10,000 bond.

These CT towns, cities were the hottest real estate markets in 2025, Berkshire Hathaway data shows (thehour.com) — Southbury led Connecticut’s busiest real estate markets in 2025, with home sales jumping 24% and averaging roughly a deal a day. A statewide report shows modest overall sales growth, tight inventory, and rising prices, with experts predicting another active year ahead for buyers and sellers across Connecticut.
