• Southbury Winners Of The 2025 Fire Prevention Poster Recognition Program (patch.com) — Southbury residents can celebrate Pomperaug Elementary students Natalie Rua and Shaurya Kundu, who were honored locally for their winning entries in the 2025 Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Recognition Program. Recognized by Southbury Fire Marshal Derrek Guertin, their posters now advance to county-level judging, underscoring the town’s role in promoting everyday fire safety education for children.
   

• Roxbury Land Trust Awarded Grant to Help Build Trails at Bronson Mountain Preserve (primepublishers.com) — A new trail system is being planned just off Southbury Road in nearby Roxbury, where the Roxbury Land Trust will use a $6,400 grant to build parking and connect nearly 3.5 miles of hiking trails. Work at the 225-acre Bronson Mountain Preserve is expected to start early this year and finish by year’s end, expanding outdoor options for Southbury-area residents.
