PHS Theatre Students Participate In Halo Awards
PHS students were among the winners in categories such as Best Performance and Best Orchestra for their plays.

From Pomperaug HS: Pomperaug High School students were recognized at the 14th Annual Halo Awards on Tuesday, May 30th , 2017 at 7 Angels Theatre in Waterbury. The Halo Awards, sponsored by 7 Angels Theatre, is a gala red carpet event that celebrates the best in Connecticut High School theatre. 64 schools from across the State of Connecticut participated in the event and numerous awards, including Best Actor and Actress in a Musical, Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Musical, Best Acting by an Ensemble Cast, Best Specialty Ensemble in a Musical, Best Student Choreographer, plus categories for lighting, design, stage management, and special effects were given.
The Pomperaug Theatre Company, the production department of the Pomperaug High School educational theatre program, had one award winner and eleven Halo nominations for their productions of The Addams Family-A Musical Comedy and Shakespeare on the Green.
Lauren Stango, a PHS junior, won the award for Best Performance by A Featured Actress in A Musical for her performance as Alice Beinecke in The Addams Family-A Musical Comedy.

In addition to Lauren’s nomination and award, the following students were nominated in the following respective categories:
- Best performance by a featured actress in a musical by Lauren Stango as Alice Beineke in The Addams Family;
- Best comic male performance in a musical by Dan Koobatian as Lurch in The Addams Family;
- Best scenic design and/or execution by Morgan Rosen for The Addams Family;
- Best orchestra by Pomperaug High School for The Addams Family;
- Best incidental or original music in a play by Daniel Koobatian for Shakespeare on the Green;
- Best performance by a supporting actor in a musical by Jacob Rogotzke as Uncle Fester in The Addams Family;
- Best performance by a supporting actress in a musical by Jaime Leo as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family;
- Best performance by a cast in an ensemble play or musical, Shakespeare on the Green; Best male standout performance in an ensemble play or musical, Conrad McDonald in Shakespeare on the Green;
- Best performance by a leading actor in a contemporary musical, Conrad McDonald as Gomez Addams in The Addams Family; and
- Best contemporary musical, Pomperaug High School: The Addams Family.
