SOUTHBURY, CT — West Coast-based restaurant brand The Red Chickz is planning its first locations in Connecticut under a new franchise agreement — including one in the Southbury area.

The expansion is led by franchise partner Yama Qaderi, who said he also intends to open restaurants in and around Danbury and West Hartford.

Qaderi said he began looking into hot chicken concepts before discovering The Red Chickz, which is known for its Nashville-inspired menu with a California twist. “The flavor, the crunch… everything was next level,” he said. “Being part of the brand’s expansion and bringing that West Coast heat to Connecticut is something I’m genuinely excited about.”

The chain’s offerings include items such as the French Toast Chicken Sandwich, Nashville Hot Chicken Tacos and Cauliflower Bites, with spice levels ranging from mild to extra hot. The brand’s rapid growth has been fueled in part by its social media presence and focus on efficient operations.

Connecticut has been a serious magnet for chicken joints since the start of the summer.

Raising Cane's will open a new location in Milford on Oct. 2, according to media reports. If you can't wait, the rapidly expanding franchise just opened in Wethersfield last month. Haven Hot Chicken hosted a grand reopening of its Norwalk restaurant earlier this month. Dave's Hot Chicken, the popular fast-casual chicken chain with locations in over 30 states and across the globe, also opened its third Connecticut outpost in Stamford in May. Dippin' Chicken, a new Korean fried chicken restaurant known for its bold and house-made dipping sauces, opened in March in East Norwalk. Royal Fried Chicken & Pizza will be opening "soon" at the site of Angelo's Pizza in Enfield, and Chick-fil-A, arguably the ruler of the fast-chicken roost, opened its second restaurant in West Hartford in June.
