Southbury Celebration Returns With Music, Food, Fireworks At Lake Stibbs
Southbury Celebration returns to Lake Stibbs with live music, food vendors, kids' activities and fireworks.
SOUTHBURY, CT — The town’s annual Southbury Celebration will return Sept. 6 with live music, kids’ activities, food trucks and a fireworks show over Lake Stibbs.
The free community event, now in its 27th year, will run from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at the Southbury Training School on Route 172. It is co-sponsored by the town and the Southbury Training School. The rain date is Sept. 7.
Organizers said the event typically draws between 4,000 and 5,000 people. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Pets and alcohol are not allowed.

The food court opens at 4:30 p.m. with more than a dozen vendors serving seafood, Spanish cuisine, fried dough, tacos, burritos, kettle corn, ice cream and more.
Children’s activities, including face painting by the Southbury Lions Leos Club and a performance by Neato the Magician, are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.

Entertainment begins with a PowerStation DJ at 4:30 p.m., followed by guitarist Michael Carrington, The Acoustic Tones, Good Medicine Rx, and Middlebury singer-songwriter Ethan Fiske with the Big Love Band. The National Anthem will be performed around 8:15 p.m., followed by a fireworks show from Pyrotecnico over Lake Stibbs.
The Southbury Food Bank will collect donations at bins near the Great Lawn crosswalk. More information on critical-need items is available online here.
Free parking will be available on the Great Lawn at the Training School, with handicapped parking in a designated area nearby. Police caution that there will be no pedestrian walking or vehicle parking along Route 172 due to traffic and safety concerns.
