Southbury Holiday Celebration 'Be The Light!' Set For Dec. 7

"Be the Light!" is a free, rain-or-shine event, and will take place at the firehouse and the Town Hall Green at 501 Main Street South.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Southbury Parks and Recreation will present the town's holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 7.

"Be the Light!" is a free, rain-or-shine event, and will take place at the firehouse and the Town Hall Green at 501 Main Street South.

Sensory-friendly activities will take place inside the firehouse building 3-4 p.m., with general admission from 4 to 6:45 p.m.

The outdoor program will start around 5 p.m., with Santa arriving on a fire truck around 5:30 p.m. The Jolly Old Elf will be available for photos afterward.

Activities include live music with sing-along songs, a parade of lights, lighting of holiday decorations, decorated winter scenes for photo opportunities, free crafts and activities, free hot cocoa and sweets, and — new this year — a food truck selling grilled cheese and soup.

Parking will be available at Town Hall's lower parking lot, Parks and Recreation's parking lot, Rochambeau Middle School's parking lot and/or Pomperaug Elementary School's parking lot, according to Parks & Rec officials. There will be no parking at Town Hall’s upper parking lot or the firehouse’s parking lot. There will be a designated drop-off area at Town Hall’s lower lever parking lot, monitored by employees.
