SOUTHBURY, CT — The Gloria Cachion Gallery at the Southbury Public Library will present an exhibition of paintings by artist David “Doc” Dooling from Sept. 4 through Sept. 29.

Dooling, largely a self-taught artist, has studied various art forms at Naugatuck Valley Community College but is best known for landscapes. His work ranges from realistic and impressionistic to whimsical and plein air. He has also recently begun producing abstract pieces for a future show.

A lifelong outdoors enthusiast, Dooling said his art reflects years of hiking, skiing, boating and exploring in nature. “I’ve interacted with our environment in every conceivable way,” he said in a statement.

The current exhibit includes a collection of acrylic works, many painted in the past year. Among them are wintry landscapes inspired by Dooling’s passion for skiing and snowstorms.

In addition to painting, Dooling is a musician and author. He performs with his band Permanent Amnesia under the name Doctor Rocker.
