Southbury Man Dies in Farm Accident
David Dicks, 83, died after an accident on his farm in Southbury.

A tragic accident on a quaint Southbury Farm took the life of one of the town's longtime residents on Wednesday.
David Dicks, 83, a resident of Southbury was killed in a farm related accident early Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
At approximately 12:17 p.m. state police responded to reports of a fatal accident at the Dicks' family property at 206 West Purchase Road in Southbury.
State Police told Patch the accident involved a farm tractor but how the accident happened remains under investigation.
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, Dicks' death was caused by blunt trauma to the head, neck and chest after he was crushed by the tractor.
Dicks was by himself while working out in a hay field when the incident occurred, police said.
At this time police are not pursuing any criminal investigation and are calling the death accidental.
"That David loved farming and this community was clear to everyone who had the fortunate experience to talk to him," First Selectman Ed Edelson said in a statement.
