SOUTHBURY, CT — Police are urging residents on social media to lock their cars following the theft of a vehicle from outside a Woodland Hills Road residence.

The motorist left the vehicle running "for a couple minutes while running into a house and when they came out, it was gone," according to police.

Cars are stolen in a matter of seconds, and many cars do not even need to have the keys inside in order to move once they’re started, police posted on Facebook.
