Southbury Town Poet Laureate Announced

Southbury Public Library, Sustainable Southbury and the Southbury Arts & Culture Alliance are pleased to announce the New Southbury Poet Laureate, Claire Schreier Warner a Southbury resident and published poet.

Claire Schreier Warner was chosen by a panel of three judges to succeed Faith Vicinanza, the inaugural Town Poet Laureate. A celebration reception is being held at the Southbury Public Library Fireplace Room on Friday, October 24th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This reception is free and open to the public.
The Town Poet Laureate’s responsibilities include hosting poetry readings, conducting writing workshops and, or working with local schools to promote poetry. Ms. Schreier Warner’s term runs from November 1, 2025, to October 31, 2028.

Ms. Schreierr Warner states “Poetry has always been a part of my life. Some of my earliest memories were of my mother reading me the poems of James Whitcomb Riley and Robert Louis Stevenson. Writing poetry is my way of seeing and making sense of an often-chaotic world.”
