Southbury Woman Arrested In Disturbance, Assault On Officer: Police

A woman is accused of 'yelling at cars passing by and running after runners on the sidewalk,' then assaulting an officer, police said.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A woman accused of "yelling at cars passing by and running after runners on the sidewalk" then assaulting an officer is facing charges, according to police. Jamie Wells was charged with interfering with police, second-degree breach of peace, and assault on a police officer.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of 340 Main St. S. at 8:56 a.m. Saturday.

Officers made contact with Wells, who was allegedly standing in the middle of the street while she yelled at cars and chased runners on the sidewalk.

Police then attempted to remove her from the middle of the road when she became "combative and uncooperative" and assaulted an officer.

Wells continued resisting officers and had to be carried off from the road into the parking lot of Denmo's, police said.

Wells was released on a $50,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 6.

Wells was sent to the hospital, according to police.
