2nd Suspect Busted in Southington Aluminum Thefts

The suspects are accused of stealing and then selling the metal for scrap, according to police.

Southington Police have wrapped up their investigation into the thefts of aluminum from a construction company last September.

A second suspect, accused of stealing aluminum forming joists from the Brunalli Construction Co. property located on Buckland Street on Sept. 15 and 16, surrendered to Southington Police who obtained an arrest warrant for him, according to police.

On Thursday, Dylan Cooke, 21, of New Haven, surrendered and was charged with third-degree larceny, and two counts each of third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief, police said. Cooke was held on a $500 cash or surety bond and was expected to be arraigned laster Thursday in state Superior Court in Bristol.

Investigators found that on Cooke and another suspect, Jonathan Siarkowski, allegedly took the aluminum, and sold it to a scrap yard, police said. The aluminum was valued at $2,048.

Siarkowski faces the same charges following his Nov. 1 arrest for his alleged involvement in the incident. He also was arrested on drug-related charges the same day. He’s due back in court on March 1, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

Southington Police said, “There are no more arrests expected in this case.”
