​Barnes Memorial Trust Announces New Grant Initiative

From Main Street Community Foundation: The Bradley Henry Barnes & Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust of the Main Street Community Foundation invites Southington nonprofit organizations to an information session on the launch of a new grant program, known as the Southington Community Well-Being Grant Initiative. The information session will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 8:30 a.m. at Main Street Community Foundation to address any questions, generate discussion about wellness needs in the community and to promote collaboration.

The Southington Community Well-Being Grant Initiative is a pilot program that will support nonprofit organizations that operate programs for the overall well-being and betterment of Southington residents. Applications are being sought from qualified 501(c)(3) organizations for grants in the $10,000 to $25,000 range. Organizations must be based in Southington with a program that is serving Southington residents. Nonprofit organizations that have received a grant from the Barnes Memorial Trust in the last five years are not eligible to apply.

“Main Street Community Foundation recognizes that many factors affect the health and well-being of individuals other than the medical care they receive at the hospital or provider’s office,” stated Susan Sadecki, President & CEO of the Foundation. “Local community resources, the workplace, the safety of our surroundings, our food security, and the cohesiveness of our neighborhoods all impact our physical and mental health. We hope this initiative will attract new, local applicants and continue to strive for making Southington the healthiest community.”

All information on the grant application will be made available at the information session. Applications will be due on June 30 by 4:00 p.m.

The Main Street Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for both present and future generations in the communities served by encouraging and promoting gift planning, prudent stewardship of assets, effective grantmaking and community leadership. A nonprofit public charity, created by private citizens, the foundation works with donors in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott who wish to build permanent charitable endowments to support their communities. Since its founding in 1995, the foundation has provided nearly $14 million in grants and scholarships.
