City officials and area arts supporters have been saying the renovation of the school's theatre would be a draw for downtown business traffic as well as an attraction to feature community performances and more. The school is slated for completion this coming summer.
“We are thrilled to offer the chance for everyone to be a part of this new school, which is going to be a catalyst for Bristol’s downtown development,” said BACF President Greg Hahn. “This is such a special time for Bristol and the extended community to come together to commemorate all of the good times that were had in this building throughout the years while creating something new for the next generation.”

The fundraiser is kicking off this December and the nonprofit organization is partnering with the Bristol Public Schools Board of Education in the creation of a patio near the building to house around 1,000 engraved pavers. Supporters have likened the project to the nearby Veteran’s Memorial Walk. Pavers will allow for donors, loved ones or businesses to engrave their names in a beautification effort on school grounds. Ideas discussed at previous meetings included the names of individuals or classes and their graduating years.
“This is an exciting opportunity to partner with the (Bristol Public Schools Board of Education) and memorialize just how special this school has been to so many in Bristol,” said Bristol Arts and Culture Fund Secretary Lea McCabe.
Pavers may be purchased for $100, with engraving and installation included in the price. Those interested in supporting the fundraising effort may visit the Bristol Arts and Culture webpage or email ghahn@BristolACF.org.
