Police on Tuesday released details of the incident, saying it started Monday, around noon, when officers were called to Queen Street Liquors, located at 1079 Queen St., on the report of two people shoplifting from the business.

The suspects, who police say stole several bottles of alcohol, sped away quickly when they saw officers responding. They headed down Aircraft Road and struck two vehicles before leaving the road and driving over the front lawn of 21 Hemlock Road, police said. The vehicle crashed through a railing and ended up on the porch area of the home at that address.

The two male suspects then fled the area on foot and were apprehended shortly thereafter.

Police said they found that the vehicle, a 2009 Audi A4, had been stolen from Torrington.

The driver of the Audi, a 16-year-old, has been charged with second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, interfering with police, reckless driving, failure to drive in proper lane, operating without a license and evading responsibility.

The second suspect, who is also 16, has been charged with second-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with police.

Police said both juveniles were turned over to the custody of their parents. They cannot be identified by law enforcement because they are under the age of 18.
