SOUTHINGTON, CT — Families are invited to the Southington Drive-In movie theater this weekend for one of the more eagerly anticipated events of the Halloween season.

The community-owned, nonprofit Southington Drive-In is hosting its annual "Halloween Festival" on Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at 3 pm. at 995 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike.

There, folks can come for a festival and stay for a movie.

The event will feature family hay rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, and a mini touch-a-truck event from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by Trunk or Treating in the parking lot (costumed children go from vehicle to vehicle and get candy).

Then the movie fun begins with a surprise children's Halloween cartoon at 6 p.m., followed by the showing of "Hotel Transylvania."

If a child is taking part in Trunk or Treating, they must bring candy to give out.

Attendance for the entire event is $25 a vehicle-load. Cash only.

In addition, food and beverages will be sold on site. Walk-ins are allowed entrance at 6 pm for the movies at $5 per person.
