Food Box Donation Slated For Thursday In Bristol
Donation is set for Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Bristol Department of Public Works.

A food box donation is slated for Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. or until there is no longer any boxes. The event will take place at the Bristol Department of Public Works at 95 Vincent P. Kelly Road as part of a partnership between the Bristol Mayor’s Office, FoodShare and United Way of West Central Connecticut.

Food box pallets will be offloaded from trucks and then divided by volunteers at stations. Cars will then be pointed to lines in a drive-thru style where the food shall be put in a trunk of a vehicle or in a backseat. The process aims to be as contactless as possible in line with pandemic precautions.
“The boxes are large, so we also encourage people to share with a neighbor or family members to ensure nothing goes to waste,” said Donna Osuch, president of the United Way.

The boxes have around 25 pounds of produce. The program called Farmers to Families Produce Distribution is sponsored by the American Rescue Act Plan.
Another such event is slated for August 5 and August 19 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Participant are encouraged to follow signage from Middle Street to Cross Street and then to Vincent P. Kelly Street following a traffic pattern.
